China Garden Restaurant is a chinese restaurant in Houston, Texas. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 3–9 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (713) 652-0745. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, originalchinagardenhouston.com.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Houston peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The crawfish fried rice was delicious, but considering the price, I think it could have included a sideβ€”or perhaps four wings. The wings had an amazing texture, but they definitely would have been better with some seasoning. Overall, the food was good, but the value could have been better.

Went here based on other reviews I read. All the other reviews were right about the food and service here. The egg rolls are the best here. Great flavor, fried perfectly. We had the Mongolian beef, lemon chicken, hunan beef, and the chicken fried steak. All excellent choices. The service from Gwen was very thorough and attentive. Helped explained what was popular to try off the menu. Would recommend this place 10/10.

We came in for an early dinner. The restaurant was pretty quiet. There were only a couple of other tables when we arrived but it did start to fill up. Even with people coming in, it stayed fairly quiet. Our server was fantastic and helped us choose. We had sautΓ© chicken livers for an appy and they were spicy and delicious. Hubby had a combination foo yung and I had shredded cabbage with pork. Both were extremely tasty and enough for leftovers. We are definitely coming back

Excellent service, with old school Chinese food and atmosphere. The egg rolls are amazing, and you can't find them like this anywhere! A Houston original sine 1969! Rosewood tables and furniture, hand painted dividers. Popular people often spotted here

I really hoped that this spot would be able to redeem itself as time went on and it did…until it didn’t. I called in my takeout order and I was told that the chicken was going to take 15 minutes and it ended up taking more than 30 minutes. I was very willing to let it slide and had faith that the food was going to be great. I got home and opened the bag to see that the portion of fried rice was huge (a plus) and the egg rolls were huge too (also a plus). The fried rice was ok β€” could use a little more flavor. The egg roll, however, was great. It was flavorful and unique so that definitely made me happy. However, when I got to the box with the chicken in it β€” yes, the chicken that took 30+ minutes β€” it had melted through the styrofoam. I believe this is a basic food safety issue. There has to be a better way to package them so that I’m not consuming melted styrofoam with my chicken but at least they’re hot. When I opened up the partially melted box, I saw the tiniest wings I’ve ever seen in my life. There were quite a few, so I’m not super concerned about the portion but rather the quality of the chicken. I’ve never been to a Chinese restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter) th
